HYMENOPLASTY
General Description of Hymenoplasty:
Hymenoplasty is an intimate female surgery, often carried out in complete confidentiality. It helps restore the integrity of the hymen and thus restore virginity. This procedure is simple, scarless and painless, offering a solution to various situations.
Hymenoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to restore the integrity of the hymen, a thin membrane located at the entrance to the vagina. This procedure is often performed in an attempt to restore a woman's perceived virginity. It can be done for cultural, religious, social or personal reasons. Hymenoplasty is generally considered an intimate surgery and is often performed confidentially.
Women may consider hymenoplasty for a variety of reasons, including:
Cultural or religious reasons: In some cultures or religions, virginity before marriage is highly valued, and hymenoplasty is seen as a way to restore this perceived virginity.
Social or family pressure: Some women may experience social or family pressure to present an intact hymenal membrane when they marry.
Traumatic experience: A woman may choose hymenoplasty after experiencing sexual assault or to overcome past trauma related to losing her virginity.
Personal desire: For some women, hymenoplasty may be a personal decision aimed at restoring a certain sense of modesty or physical integrity.
Reconstruction after childbirth or injury: In some cases, hymenoplasty may be performed to reconstruct the hymen after childbirth or accidental injury.
The intervention stages of a hymenoplasty:
It is required to consult a plastic surgeon during two pre-operative appointments. Before and after photos of the hymenoplasty are not taken in order to preserve the confidentiality of the procedure. Pre-operative instructions for any intimate surgery include:
- Stop smoking at least one month before and up to one month after the procedure to reduce the risk of necrosis and complications.
- Stop any anticoagulant or antiplatelet treatment 15 days before surgery.
- Hymenoplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia alone, or combined with intravenous sedation, although it can also be performed under spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia. The duration of the procedure generally varies from 30 to 40 minutes. At the end of the procedure, a light bandage is placed in protective briefs.
Patients return home the same day of the procedure. Light bleeding may persist for 2 to 3 days.
The surgical aftermath is simple and not very painful, requiring only simple analgesics. Protection will be placed in the underwear.
Intimate cleansing is done with an intimate soap. It is recommended to wait 3 weeks before resuming sexual activities and not to practice sports activities during this period.
The sutures usually resolve in about 3 weeks once healing is complete.
